The FAO Biodiversity Knowledge Hub gathers existing FAO resources on biodiversity in the agricultural sectors to enhance countries' knowledge and capacity to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, deliver on the sustainable development goals and achieve food security for all.
Users can search, filter and access a broad range of FAO resources (data, indicators, learning materials and activities, guidelines, policy advice and tools, etc.) on biodiversity in the agrifood sectors according to their specific needs. There are two search modalities available:
- Open browser search: Users can type in keywords to find relevant resources.
- Refined filters: Users can filter resources based on focus targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the type of activity that the resource could support, the type of resource, a series of tags (including the different agricultural sectors) and the geographic focus.
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework was adopted by 196 Parties at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in 2022, setting out an ambitious roadmap for a world living in harmony with nature. Its success will require political commitment at the highest level of government, and action and cooperation at all levels of government and society.
Among the Framework’s key elements are 23 action-oriented targets for urgent action over the decade to 2030. The targets address: reducing threats to biodiversity; meeting people’s needs through sustainable use and benefit-sharing; and tools and solutions for implementation and mainstreaming.
The direct links to agrifood sectors (crop and livestock production, forestry, fisheries and aquaculture) in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework means that these sectors have an important role to play in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the actions needed to meet the Frameworks targets. A broad range of FAO’s resources can support this.
We are striving to improve and further develop the FAO Biodiversity Knowledge Hub and make it more user-friendly. If you have any feedback or suggestions regarding your experience while using this pilot interface, please click HERE to provide your valuable input.
